What are busines hours in Milan? Which days of the week are shops open? And when do they close for holidays?

The opening times of shops and tourist attractions in Milan are sufficiently long for tourists to be able to combine shopping with Milan's attractions. Some shops open every day of the week.

Shops and department stores

Most of the shops in Milan open every day from 10 am until 8 pm. The stores that are not on the main shopping streets are normally closed on Monday or only open from 3 pm until 8 pm. Some shops also close for lunch,  for approximately one hour, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

The department stores, for example, “La Rinascente” is open until 9 pm on weekdays and until 10 pm on Friday and Saturday.

Museums and galleries

A large number of museums in Milan open from 10 am until 6 pm (or from 9:30 am until 5:30 pm) from Tuesday until Sunday, and close on Monday. There are exceptions like the Triennale, which opens until later.

Summer

The Milanese, like other Mediterranean inhabitants, take their summer holidays in August. This means that except for the main high streets, restaurants and renowned brands, most of the little shops will be closed during August. Some churches even close during the holidays!
