Milan’s three airports
Before you book, check which airport your flight lands at. The cheapest fare is not always the cheapest journey once you add the transfer into the city.
When to fly
Fares to Milan track the city’s trade-fair calendar as much as the school holidays. The weeks of Salone del Mobile in April and the two fashion weeks in February and September are the most expensive of the year, in the air as well as in the hotels. January, early March and November are consistently the cheapest.
If your dates are flexible, midweek departures are usually cheaper than weekends, and flying into Bergamo often costs less than Malpensa — just budget an extra hour and the coach fare to get into the city.
