Embark on the Bernina Express to pass through one of the world's most fascinating rail journeys. It passes through the Bernina pass, crosses the Swiss Alps and arrives eventually in St. Moritz, "The Top of the World."
Leaving Milan behind at 7 am, we head north, crossing the lake district and arriving in Tirano, one of the last Italian towns before Switzerland.
In Tiranno you will have free time to pass through the historic centre, eat, and have a coffee. The Bernina Express leaves the town past midday.
The cherry on the cake is the Bernina Express, a train that runs along one of the most spectacular rail routes in the world. The journey takes place in a regional train with classic windows (not panoramic). Throughout the tour, you can get off the train to take photographs of the places you visit. The route to St. Moritz lasts two and a half hours.
During the journey, we will pass along the Brusio spiral viaduct, cut through the Bernina pass, as well as crossing places such as Engadina, one of the most famous valleys in the area. Lakes, waterfalls, deep ravines, frozen glaciers, little tunnels and bridges all mean that the views, green in summer and white in winter, are always stunning.
Once in St. Moritz, known as "The Top of the World", you will have free time to explore the town and buy some souvenirs.
To enjoy the alps from another point of view, we will return to Milan by road, arriving back in the city at 7:30 pm.
European citizens of the Schengen Zone (Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Lichenstein and all the countries in the European Union except the United Kingdom, Ireland, Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Croatia) only need their national identity document to enter Switzerland. Citizens of other countries will have to check with their respective Swiss consulates to see what documentation will be needed.
